Do you have to watch your money? Well our President being born of privilege and big big ‘buckaroos’ does not and he has been living off the fat of the land giving all our money away, to China mostly. Our Bush, in another give away is ready to spend $170 billion more in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even though Congress is trying to reign him him, Congress is one big, brown, solid ball of crappola, too worried about re-election and how it would look if they don’t support the troops, they can’t say no to Bushy boy’s out stretched hand.
Haven’t we wasted enough money on the war? The Dems are saying if the $170 is appropriated, the strategy is that the funding will go through the next presidency and he or she can use it to bring our troops home, unless McCain gets in and that senile old guy who confuses the Sunni and Shia might decide he is gonna spend another4 years borrowing from the Chinese to fight this war just like Bush, (unless of course, the Chinese regime gets ’shaked and baked by some big quake and there’s no one to collect the debt- ah, poetic justice – (don’t get me wrong, I feel horribly bad for the people, but not their leaders.)
And while yesterday’s headlines were overshadowed by natural disasters, Bush lucked out again! His article was dumbed down and out of radar. The Bush Administration is “embarrassed” about the corruption of the Iraqi government money laundering, to embarrassed to have it investigated.
According to the A.P., we, the funders of Bush’s outlandish war give away just don’t seem to give a rats ass that our money evaporates daily to corrupt sources. While We The People are struggling to pay rising gas and food, insurance and health premiums, our tax money is tossed out to make lousy individuals richer! And many have long ties to Bush/Cheney. Prime Example, The now defunct Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) – set up under L. Paul Bremer, (an old buddy from past GOP administrations). Bremer first disbanded the Iraqi army, (via Rumsfeld’s orders,) then set up the Iraqi Governing Council made up of Iraqi ex-patriates, some who were very very close to Dick Cheney for years, like bank robber, Ahmad Chalabi. Chalabi has been an expert at pilfering out our US dollars for years. Low and behold, somehow under the eyes of the CPA, $8.8billion came and went and could not be tracked. International Press Service noted that “much of it went to Ghost employees,” [More money wasted in Iraq; 1/31/08, Emad Mekay IPS])
Both of the Baghdad appointed heads for the Office of Accountability and Transparency, or OAT as it is referred to have come out and basically said incompetence was key to letting money just filter through the system without being accounted for. James Mattil, Chief of staff under Arthur Brennen, both gave reports of corruption and they were ignored by Bush. Mattil yesterday was quoted by the A.P. as saying, “U.S. turned it’s back on Iraqis who fled to the USA after being threatened for pursuing anti-corruption cases”.
So typical in Bush/Cheney fashion for their deep rooted Iraqi buddies who took the money and might be right here wandering among us spending our tax dollars from their Swiss bank accounts, (though they must be disappointed at the rate of our dollar compared to the Euro.)
The Administration gives a free pass to the rich who they have made richer through our tax dollars. Iraqi prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, “eviscerated Iraq’s top anti-corruption office” according to Arthur Brennan in Anne Flaherty’s AP article yesterday. It’s a crap shoot when the Iraqi people vote in a ‘democracy’ where they elect the same old ‘type’ regime whose methods of fleecing are still top priority.
And while you are struggling to make ends meet, just remember, you are not in Bush’s inner circle, you are not one of his “Pioneers” — the idiots who gave $100,000 or more to his presidential campaign, (don’t ya wonder what they think about their village idiot now?) You and I are not the elite who have millions at our disposal, we are struggling to pay our bills while we laugh at getting our own $600 bucks back to help pay gas and food for the month. And we “baby boomers” are borrowing money to pay for immediate expenses according to the news today. So imagine how many homeless will be on the streets in ten years without some kind of socialism which WILL have to happen in the USA, but it won’t ever be called that. We will call them by some trite entitlement name. One day we will have humane socialized medicine for all, comprehensive health care especially for the elderly and diseased. And those people like the employees of ill fated Enron who worked 30 years and suddenly all their retirement evaporated as Enron perished while Ken and Linda Lay had 11 homes and millions that could not be touched in Texas accounts, those working people will have to struggle to work the rest of their days and will never be able to retire.
Bush will have his typical Texas sized hissy-fit if Congress doesn’t cough up his $170K for Iraq. Shouldn’t we demand he be accountable for anything? Have we given up on our own corrupt regime and don’t care what Bush/Cheney do anymore? Consider writing that fool Cheney and his puppet Bush a letter today saying the money they want is more Bull Shit!!! We DEMAND an accurate accounting of the money being spent in Iraq and Afghanistan. We want to know who is walking away with our billons, like U.S. corporations such as DynCorp who can rape it’s own taxpayers: according to Source watch:
In January 2007, special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, Stuart W. Bowen Jr., reported that “he had identified tens of millions of dollars worth of accounting discrepancies, missing weapons and unauthorized billings” by DynCorp. Bowen accused DynCorp of “lax accounting and monitoring procedures.” At issue is a $43.8 million State Department contract “for a camp that was never used by police trainers,” including $4.2 million that DynCorp billed for “unauthorized work.” Another $36.4 million expenditure, intended “for weapons and equipment, including armored vehicles, body armor and communications equipment … cannot be accounted for,” reported the Dallas Morning News. [3] Shortly after Bowen announced that his office would investigate DynCorp for fraud in its Iraq work, the company hired the PR firm Qorvis Communications for “messaging and image work,” reported O’Dwyer’s PR Daily.
