De-ja Vu!!! It’s June and here we go again! Today the Obama administration announced that the USA is, “phasing out funding for eradication efforts of opium in Afghanistan while significantly increasing its funding for alternate crop and drug interdiction efforts.”
So where is the news? This is right out of the George W. Bush playbook and he also did it in June, ( 2001 just months before the September 11 attacks.) Bush handed over $12million to the Taliban, (from our open credit equity line via China) and gave the Taliban carte blanche to “stop growing poppies for opium.” Obama is pretending that when we hand over the new money, (compounding more interest for the Chinese) to Karzai, who then hands over to the warlords many of who are still Taliban, that Karzai will tell them they must plant, oh, let’s say okra. I’m sure the warlords then thank Karzai and the USA profusely and plant more poppies. Where would Afghanistan be without their top crop of opium and a handout of cash?
The G-8 can applaud all they want, but the hard reality is, who over sees all this money we have to borrow to tell the warlords to plant something edible?
It’s a joke, it’s more of the same, it’s de ja vu or groundhog day if you prefer.
Why not tell the G-8 that you will not be sending any money to help Afghanistan cultivate, but instead we will air drop some Burpee seeds once a year. It’s way cheaper and the worse that can happen is that they actually plant the seeds.
Before that, as I have said all along, why did we never bomb one poppy field if the G-8 and the USA have been so concerned about the opium trade? All it tells me is that the Afghan farmers will have a good laugh at continuation of the money flow from the USA, and that Obama is Bush light…
