If the child was so afraid of his father that he threw up on TV set, could he not have been so afraid that he could keep quiet for hours? If he truly has ADD, perhaps he has medications, or was given a sleep aid. I didn’t see him in the homemade video of take off. Could he have already been in the attic? In a family this dysfunctional “truth” is whatever the leader (father) says it is and I think they come to believe in his vision. It’s an extreme Stockholm syndrome. I’m sure it will all come out in the end. If it is a trial, watch for a reality show for sure, though the family won’t get paid.

We never learn the lessons of history from invaded countries who first confiscated guns. “We GOP” don’t have to wait for government invasion when criminals are the warm up act. But I’m cool with those who eschew having weapons in their house. I wish we had to post the homeowners position on the front door, or slider, or bedroom window—–

Well, while the immediate reaction might be expected, I think it is still in order to congratulate the President on this award.

In a very appropriate open letter to Obama, Michael Moore points out all of the above but ends by saying…
“There are those who say you’ve done nothing yet to deserve this award. As far as I’m concerned, the very fact that you’ve offered to walk into the minefield of hate and try to undo the irreparable damage the last president did is not only appreciated by me and millions of others, it is also an act of true bravery. That’s why you got the prize. The whole world is depending on the U.S. — and you — to literally save this planet. Let’s not let them down. ”

The Peace Prize is not a popularist Academy Award. The committee is very small and has used the award to encourage further action.

MLK got it long before his goals had been reached – and it certainly did focus others on his work. The prize given to Begin and Sadat was also meant to encourage FURTHER action on what they had begun.

So I will join Moore and others and celebrate Obama’s award.

Is the world coming to an end? (Well, that’s another story.) We agree again! The Peace Prize for Obama is way premature. Seems the Nobel community has gotten into the celebrity mindset with the rest of the world. I had not heard of Comet-ME, but am so impressed with their ingenuity and true peace efforts. Why don’t we hear more about this?

I agree with you, Polanski deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail, preferably with a cellmate named Bubba.
Not sure about the liberal angle, though.
